We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I've experienced that quite often over the years. I happen to come across some activity or hobby that is so obscure with such a small niche of devotees(to my eyes), that I can't imagine more than 2 or 3 people interested. Then I discover that there are thousands of people involved and whole segments of industry devoted to and making money from equipment and fashions connected to the activity, and elaborate venues for it all over. I don't know, maybe it's a function of 7 billion people on the planet.
Daughter lived in Okinowa for several yrs and got interested in this. All woman team with native Okinowa man as coach/trainer. They were good enough to beat most of the other USA and Okinowan teams. She loved it, said it was some of the hardest training that she ever did.
