We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
They both seemed initially ghastly, not only shells of their former selves, but worse than shells. Wraiths. But when the instruments came to their hands a little life flowed, and as the life flowed, both their voices, weakened but not defeated sang out from decades before.

It is amazing how his voice was still there. One of the most powerful videos, in my mind, was "Hurt". This was a remake of Trent Reznors song,(lead singer from Nine Inch Nails). Johnny made it his own just a great video. Anyone watching Sun Records on T.V.? Very interesting history of the memphis recording studio that brought us Elvis, Johnny, and Jerry Lee Lewis.
The album that includes Hurt was recorded the year before he died. After Reznor heard Cash's recording he said the song wasn't his anymore. I also love his cover of Depeche Mode's Personal Jesus. The entire American Recordings series of albums is amazing.
