Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

The sambal oelek mentioned in the article is a much tastier prodcut. It's a chili paste and has a lot more flavor and heat than sriracha. Sriracha is like ketchup.
As a person who likes to cook and likes Mexican food I do use some peppers and other hot spices in the meal. But I don't like it to overwhelm. I have noticed a trend for some people to add hot sauce just to prove how hot they can eat the food. I am left with one question: What does good food taste like when doused in hot sauce? Trick question because you cannot know all you can taste is the hot sauce. Everyone has their own tastes. I want to taste the food and 'detect' the hot spice.
Did anyone else notice that the Pres used only ONE pen to sign the TPP order? Right there he got my support for today.
“The federal government should not be in the business of funding the arts”--well, that's just a bomb-throwing anarchist right there. Everybody knows no one is interested in art, so if the government doesn't fund it, it will disappear, and if you disagree, you hate Big Bird. Same with Planned Parenthood, which is so non-essential and unpopular that it can't possibly go on without taxpayer funding.
I keep sriracha sauce with my standard condiments next to the stove and use it as a quick substitute any time I'd otherwise need to process garlic and pepper and add them to, say, a soup. I agree with Jack Walter that sambal oelek is tastier; I also rely heavily on sambal manis and have taken to ordering it by the case (mail order, of course). Conimex makes a good one and sells it on Amazon. Sambal manis in butternut squash soup or cranberry relish is just killer. "That was quick. The guy doesn't waste time."
Trump is a doer. Like popcorn. Tabasco on popcorn is an excellent Gulf Coast habit.
As amazing as the union's sudden love for Trump is, I'll bet the GOP's sudden love of unions is no less amazing. I'm not going to be amazed when, by the time this is all over, the GOP discovers they love a lot of the Democrat's policies.
RE #NotMySuperBowl
I demand Tom Brady pledge to accept the final score. #NotMySuperBowl Trump Wins The Unions. From what I've seen, Trump met only with construction and building trade unions, whose membership and political clout has been declining for decades. There are three, growing, cultural marxist bad boys that together, I suspect, outnumber construction and trade by a long shot: 1) SEIU (Service Employees International Union), mostly low level health care, but also includes non-fed government employees, janitors, security officers, food service workers and the like, 2) AFGE (American Federation of Government Employees), think Lois Lerner, and 3) the everloving NEA (National Education Association), bought and paid for by (the now moribund) Democrat Pary. These are the ones to rein in as much as possible.
That's because he's signing an executive order. I hope he uses bulk-rate Bics if he's going to keep the tradition of giving pens to bill sponsors. Barry al-Hussein Osama used one Parker Dufold Black at a cool $577.85 per, for each letter of his signature.
this demonstrates how out of touch you people are and why you're going to get bitchslapped in '18. you are unable to see anything except in terms of partisan politics. trump is doing this for the American worker, meaning, for all Americans, and you're trying to justify one of obama's many failed economic policies.
Here's hopingn that Atlanta dismantles the Patriots as the did to the Packers and the Seahawks. That would just make my day to see the patriots humiliated. Ain't going to happen, but I have a dream.
New England opened at and is still -3 on the spread. But on the money line, NE opened at -120 and is now -160 and Atlanta opened +116 and is now +140.
But we believe that all numbers are equal and demand both teams receive Participation Trophies. #NotMySuperBowl Ref Boycott Israel
To be fair we need to boycot Palestinian products. Things like.. ... well there's .... and .... O crap. They do make home built rockets. Bill H.
I stumbled across this 8 minute video on youtube. Do you remember this? Sep 23, 1962. Flying Tiger Line Flight 923 flying from Canada to Germany ends in disaster when it's forced to ditch in the middle of the Atlantic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=baXYNLdrY7U The video can be watched with the sound muted. The footage is of course stock and not actual and the plane they show ditching isn't even the right type. Nonetheless I found it interesting. I do not remember this, likely because I never heard about it. "China orders more than 100 golf courses shut"
Obama's retirement as POTUS already has an effect on the world economy... Don't recall that one, although I probably knew of it at the time, since I was still flying Connies in '62. The dichings I recall best are those that came up in annual sea survival courses. Flew that route many times. The North Atlantic was known as a rough place to ditch any time of the year.
In the end, it's all about jobs.
Dems didn't provide them, Trump possibly could. Time will tell, but the Dems are going to be losing a lot if he keeps peeling off their core constituencies. (And I think with the advent of the ACA provisions that started screwing with union insurance, all of a sudden Democratic 'assistance' for the union workers started to feel an awful lot like repeated kicks to the nuts. After a while, you start thinking maybe these guys really AREN'T your friends...) Amen. Sambal Oelek has a much, better flavor - especially when you are using it as an ingredient in recipes.
A naked ghost pepper at 1 million Scovilles will cure most hotties of their predilection....and it's not even the hottest pepper you can buy (i.e., the Carolina Reaper at more than 2 million Scovilles).
Which highlights to me one of the great mysteries of the "modern" world. How can there be jillions of people out and about who contribute ... NOTHING. Not even co-dependency. The vast buffalo herds tore up the prairie and kept the ocean of grass healthy.
If Lady Gaga's half-time show turns into an anti-Trump rant, as some rumors claim it will, the TV audience for the second half of the game could be a lot smaller than the one that watches the first half. I never watch games unless I know the final score ahead of time, which is the way things were back in the days of tape delay. I was fine with it then, I'm fine with it now. I treat games no different than movies or plays or books or symphonies, where I know the ending before I start.
