We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I'm in my 60's now and have more than I ever wished for. When my kids ask me what I want for my birthday or Christmas, I insist they tell me what of mine they wish for.
Invariably, I'm asked for the books I read to them as little ones. The two mentioned of course, Harold and the Purple Crayon, Make Way for Ducklings, Ferdinand the Bull, The Runaway Bunny and many, many others.
It is one of my joys to locate 'well-loved' copies of the books and then distribute to my children and their children. They have the good grace to pretend they are receiving the original.
