We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Wild Horse Crisis - What’s the best way to control an invasive species: Round them up or shoot them?
Hardly a crisis, I think. There used to be bison, before that wild camels and all sorts of ungulates in the American West. The Indians killed 'em all except for the bison. What is best? I don't know. The wild horses are eating the food of the cattle.
Bloomberg always wants people to be just like him, like an old-time NY Jewish mother. "It's raining. Put on your rubbers or you'll catch a cold." Otherwise, he'll try to make laws to make you act that way.

"Why not become whores? "
They need something for after college and their looks are fading.
I agree with 8 of the 10 disappointing places.
Temple Bar is what it is described to be, but it's vibrant, colorful and quite fun. I enjoyed Dublin as a whole, and while Temple Bar is more a caricature of what you expect Dublin to be, it's still enjoyable.
I also disagree about Las Vegas. No, it's not a family destination, though they tried to make it one for a while. And yes, you could lose your shirt if you're stupid. But if you're on a two to four day trip with your buddies, you can't beat the location. Water-skiing, golf, and the Hoover Dam are all nearby if the city is too much for you. But I always find the Strip to be an enjoyable walk, the rides at some of the hotels are a welcome treat, the shows are all excellent, and the dining can be pretty darn good and low-priced. No, it's not great Prime Rib, but those Prime Rib buffets are great places to pig out if you're in the mood.
The Fremont Street experience is fun, and if gambling is your thing (it's mine, at times) and you know how to do it intelligently, there are plenty of places where you can do well for yourself. I like single-deck blackjack, craps, and Texas Hold-'em. During certain times of the year, hanging out at the SportsBook with friends is a good time.
No, I won't go there frequently. I get there every 3 years or so, but I could probably do a long weekend every year.
I still want to renew my vows at a chapel, with Elvis presiding. Because - why not?
"Should We Force People to Save for Retirement?"
The real trick is how do you keep the politicians from stealing it. They stole the Social Security trust fund. Sure, they left behind some "notes" on paper.
40-60 years is a long time to leave money laying around when their are politicians about. Stealing from hardworking savers to give to their cronies is their stock in trade.
"High School Girl Screamed at for Carrying Bible in Hallway"
Their are words in that book. The word of God. If you read them, you may change your heart. Words have power to provoke thought. With thought, the Progressive is exposed.
A mind is a terrible thing and it must be stopped in our lifetime.
I always manage to zero in on the one link that doesn't link.... Why exactly are they picking on George Washington?
I thought prostitution to pay for the unconscionable cost college was already a thing.
A college-coed seeking arrangement can be discriminating in whom she services. (Aside, it is the only acceptable discrimination in college).
After college, an aging whore must be more egalitarian to keep up her revenue.
Adultery Site, pseudonyms acceptable: The chance that a man and his wife meet up here is small, but non-zero. Remember that "Do you like Pina Coladas?" song.
10 Worst Places: Like the PuffHo people know what I'd like. Of these 10, I've been to two (and the original Disneyland) and liked them, the others not interested in. My daughter went to NF for her honeymoon (by train), enjoying the train, the honeymoon, and NF.
The Left: SHUT UP, they argue.
I think at that point, they are the jewelry appraised before giving an answer and/or negotiating their prenupe/cohab contract at the elite schools.
BTW, ever think Knox has quite a marketing going on? Whether dextro or levo, articles seem determined to lead one to explore her degradation and filthy, filthy acts.

"thick haze of cigarette smoke"
In a Las Vegas casino? Not for years. So Caroline Morse hasn't actually been to Las Vegas, which makes me wonder how many more of those destinations she hasn't been to.
I'm guessing, none.
Spent a 10-day vacation in Gibraltar, staying at the Rock Hotel . The history of the wars is quite interesting, and the water supply. Lots of old military technology to explore and inspect. We spent a lot of time walking and enjoying the Mediterranean climate during December/January. We walked back-streets and found great used-book shops and pubs where we were the only non-Gibraltarians, and had great conversations with the locals as a result. I found it interesting that many of the surnames were familiar from my time living in Malta. We read the local news while we were there, and walked to the harbor to see the big crane pull out the little crane that had toppled in trying to lift out a car. And it was easy to set up a cheap car rental on the Spanish side of the border, so we could walk across (no time at all) and explore historic towns like Ronda -- in fact, for exploring Andalusia, it was quite a good base-camp.
We probably wouldn't have gone if it wasn't a cheap short flight to somewhere warm from where we were living at the time, but I suspect that folk who find it boring aren't much interested in history or really getting outside their comfort zone.
