We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I would like to believe that your comment is sarcasm, otherwise I will have to conclude you are just very shallow with no true knowledge or understanding of history nor of what the difference is between a uniformed prisoner and a terrorist. Though, I suspect, you will say there is no difference. Or, likely else, you will give the terrorist greater moral grounding in your convoluted worldview.
Bilejones ... In your case, ignorance seems to be bliss. Haven't you ever had the curiosity to look up first hand descriptions of the Nazis and the Second World War? I was born in 1928 and was very much alive and observant during the Second World War. My brother served in the war in Europe, and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. After the war ended in Europe, General Eisenhower was very careful that the maximum number of soldiers soon to be headed home were taken to the concentration camps to observe first=hand the kinds of cruelty the prisoners were exposed to, the furnaces in which they were burned, the experimental labs where so-called German scientists perpetrated cruel experiments. General Eisenhower. knew that the cruelties were so outrageous that shallow people would start to deny they ever happened.
But they did. And because General Eisenhower was so careful to create a "cloud of witnesses" in Allied uniforms, the Nuremburg Trials were successfully carried out. My classmates and I at Columbia University were able to watch the trials on the dorm living room TV.
Six million Jews -- fathers, mothers and children, died in those camps. Stop being lazy and look up the facts. Wisdom is important, even when it comes late in life.
Ever been there, BJ? First hand knowledge, or passing along Second\third-hand falsehood assumptions based on, what, pseudo-hearsay or whimsy? Maybe it was a good vid on one of those Indy-media programs?
Well, my data is based on first-hand Mk one eyeballs, many friends (whom were MI and MP's) assigned there, and knowledge of the methods of PW operations, having done a fair amount of practice during the first Gulf war (gosh, 100k Iraqis that drop into ones lap do pose logistical, organizational , and confinement issues....)
Plus, I've seen Bergan-Belson and Auschwitz - you have no concept of what you speak, and can't claim "Arbreit macht Frei" on the front gates..
