We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
That was singularly the best video I've ever seen on this site. Jeez, was it well done. Music, editing, titles, pics, everything. If you wanted to sum up every bad thing the Libs/Dems have been doing to our country over the past year, that's how you do it.
Electing Republicans, in and of itself, is obviously not the answer - but it is a start (at least is likely to be). If Pubbies are just the party of NO, that probably works for getting elected in 2010 but we obviously need more than that.
By now, pretty much all the primaries are done and the primary ballot is decided. If you don't like the direction we're going, then the only thing left to do now is vote for a new direction. If that direction is only STOP, that is something. We have to stop before we reverse.
So I agree that electing Pubbies is not the answer - but then it really depends on the question, don't you think. If the question is "who do you want to run the agenda in the House and Senate", voting for a Dem (even a "conservative" one) will not further that goal.
So, Kevin, where do you want to go? Do you want to keep going down this road or not? It's a pretty easy choice for me.
I don't usually go in for "red meat", and carefully fact-check what's said.
I LOVED this ad.
Yes, America Rising, or uprising, call it what you want, but enough feel this way that I can hardly wait for 11/2/2010, unless I'm underestimating the ability of the Republicans to screw that up before (not to mention after). But, we won't let the Republicans get away with that either.
This is truly a time in my 62 years that there really is a new America Rising, not just grumbling or reacting or being jingo, but knowing in our bones that we're at the Rubicon.
That video has been around the web for a while. I am certain I saw on several right-friendly websites.
There are many copies of this on Youtube. Typically, they are labeled either America Rising or An Open Letter to the Democrat Politicians. Or sometimes both.
There is a second that is addressed to Republican Politicians (same music, different imagery and text) and yet a third addressed to Incumbents. (not sure if that's materially different; I haven't had a look yet)
The earliest that I have found are dated Jan 3, 2009, which I take to be 2010 date with a lingering 2009 habit.
I've seen better resolution than that, so it's probably not the original. The author is claimed to be one Buckrush. If you use google to search for the vids and then add -youtube you'll get a list of sites that started hosting it after the first wave of youtube cancellations were invoked. They seem to date to Jan 7 to Jan 13, 2010.
This one at popmodal lays it to Buckrush.
That said, I don't mind if it makes another round or two until Nov 2.
Life without Ms Scuito would be Poor Indeed
I flunked using brackets in above message. And now I need to sneak past the spam preventer.
