We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
RE: Blumenthal. It used to be that a fair description of Connecticut's State Government was Massachuetts Light. We weren't quite as bad as Massachuetts what with taxes and the ultimate blue of their state legislature.
Now it's reversed. Massachuetts is called Connecticut Light. Connecticut is so blue, that anything short of murder or rape will be excused and Blumenthal will get a pass - you can see it developing already.
If Ted Kennedy can be reelected after committing vehicular homicide and Barney Frank reelected after having another boy friend drug scandal, then this is just a minor bump in the road for CT's Democrats.
And now I'm depressed. I think I'll go create something - that always makes me feel better. :>)
Oh please - you think we're talking about solving the Riemann hypothesis or Goldbach's conjecture, compiling Dirac equations, folding space/time, determining the base state of quantum foam or figuring out how to program the DVR.
Re Spain's Green Jobs: Another laugh is this: if a practice that's supposed to be environmentally friendly costs more than the practice it's to replace, it usually is more harmful to the environment. So the Spanish program trashed their economy and their ecology simultaneously. Since it also interferes with freedom, that would be a "progressive" trifecta.
