We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Samuelson on The Obama Infatuation. Of course the press hasn't reported on their own sexual fantasies. Why would they report on them when they can simply enact them with virtual oral and anal sexual activities?
Since the late 1970's the democrat/liberals have been receiving federal funds to "offer classes" on campus. Unfortunately, these were not classes open to any student. No, these were classes for the children of influence. In agricultural states that meant the children of "rural leaders". In urban states that meant the children of "union leaders". These were classes that taught "leadership skills", but most importantly tied the knot tightly between the community represented and the growing network of democratic "activists". I am sure that if we could look into Obama's schooling we would find that even though he went to a private school--he was coached and guided early on by the liberal teachers in his mother's community. If we look at many of the thirty pluses running this country today we will see that they have been hand picked a long, long time ago.
re "fraccing" 'tight' (low-porosity) hydrocarbon-bearing formations, the Moonbattery article is great on reporting the latest Waxman outrage (no, not his face, his politics) but should've added that fraccing is old as the hills --it's a standard well-completion practice where indicated and has been for fifty years.
How did they know 'the children of influence'? Did they ask each student if they were the spawn of influential parentage? Was there a space on the admissions resume that asked: "Are you a child of influence? Check one: YES NO." What happened if some poor schmuck lied and got found out that he was just a regular old human being? Were they thrown out of leadership?
Boy. They better not appoint Sotomayor to the Supreme Court. She was most definitely not a child of influence. Dang. I wonder why she's making such a big deal out of not being a child of influence? I mean, it IS the SUPREME COURT of the United States of America. Thumbs down, you pitiful wench.
In a case with which I am personally familiar a gal came out from the university to a very, very, very small rural community. She had been given a heads up that the post mistress was the woman in town whom every body respected for her integrity and calm, reasoned thinking. How did this gal from the university know about this woman and this place you might ask: the women down in democratic party headquarters knew her because she was also the gal who monitored the voting booth during elections. She had a good reputation, but most importantly the families that owned large--very large--cattle ranches respected her. What did the woman from the university want you might ask? Simple: give the daughter just entering high school a free tuition paid two week summer camp in leadership training. And, then the next summer, and the next summer, and the next. Of course ending with multiple scholarships to the local university. Mom (postmistress) will talk about this to close friends. She will tell you:"we were so naieve, so trusting, we didn't have a clue they wanted something back from us. We thought our daughter was just being rewarded for good (not great) grades!" That something of course being to make sure that the votes in that rural place went their way. The gal from the university was teacher/advisor, etc. When daughter began to understand what was going on(junior year in college) and refused to do some of things they required of her, the scholarships suddenly dried up, and the college leadership classes were "filled".
It is disingenuous to pretend that teachers do not know from the beginning whose kids belong to who in the community--any community. The point is what purpose can they serve the nazis? Long range planning Meta.
The charter school article is fantastic. The LA Times must have been cringing when it published that. The simple act of abolishing public school teachers unions would dramatically improve education overnight. Switching to a voucher system and private schools should be our ultimate goal, but charter schools are a good start.
