We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
This actually made me kind of sick. I threw up a little in my mouth. Please excuse the mass mailing...I think everyone should see it. To me it's sick and sycophantic, but it is also so cowardly. Insult the Christians, because you can, and never mind that we're still in Easter.
This makes me think less of Obama, who should have gotten out in front of this messianic talk, instead of silently encouraging it. It speaks volumes about the artist, but Obama's silent consent also speaks volumes about him.

Update: The artist changed his mind about doing that (see Dr X's comment below)
Jappy ... You hit it right on the nose. This is truly unbelievable. If it's a joke, it's incredibly vulgar and insulting. If these idiots truly believe this, then they've crossed the line into true insanity. And there's no crossing back.
Hey, I've got an idea. Let's, in the interest of [fairness, equal time, multi-culturalism](choose one), how about we place, along side this piece of crap, an image depicting Obama as Muhammad. Gee, I wonder how that would go over.
D;Antuono was an A.D. at DMB&B. It's hard to believe he didn't know that this would garner huge attention to his work:
NEW YORK, April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Painter Michael D'Antuono has cancelled the planned public unveiling of his latest work "The Truth" at NYC's Union Square Park on President Obama's 100th day in office due to overwhelming public outrage. The artist's decision was based in part on thousands of emails and phone calls; online blogs and other public commentary received in the first 48 hours following its release.
The painting which was first made public on Friday depicts President Obama appearing much like Jesus Christ on the Cross; atop his head, a crown of thorns. Behind him, the dark veil being lifted (or lowered) on the Presidential Seal. The photo was the most emailed picture on the web.
The artist insists that the work was intended purely as a political piece. "The religious reference was used metaphorically and not to insult anyone's religious beliefs. If that is the effect that my art has had on anyone, I am truly sorry," says D'Antuono.
Over the next several weeks, the artist hopes to make public much of the content received that helped shape his decision. He continues to welcome people's questions, comments and feedback at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Hold on with the complaints.
It's a work of art.
Plus it shows our current Messiah nicely groomed and wearing a tie as he hangs on the cross, a very respectful detail.
My only quibble is it should have been painted on velvet.
I love velvet and have a large collection of collie dogs painted on velvet.
The middle of the road voter who voted in our latest batch of Marxists will soon grow tired of this stuff and vote the other direction..The more of this stuff that keeps getting produced is another vote away from Obama and the Progressives.. Keep it up!
