We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

A Merry Christmas and a happy holiday season to all of our readers and to all of our contributors, with thanks for being part of our humble Yankee enterprise
(No innocent trees were murdered for this card to compensate for murdering our Christmas tree)
I've been to a bunch of parties and some fancy parties this season, and heard some great music too, but the best was a neighborhood caroling get-together Friday night - adults and kids. Good food and drinks with around an hour of singing practice around the piano (divvying up the voices of the wise men, the soloist for O Holy Night, etc), then out tramping around and driving around in the dark to our target audiences. Shut-ins, an old friend and WW 2 Navy vet with Alzheimer's, guys on the job, friendly families. Mrs. BD feels that this neighborhood event is the most Christmassy thing we ever do.
I can guarantee that none of the kids who participate will ever forget it. Maybe they will pass it on when they grow up. Hope so. Fine traditions of family, friends, community, and faith do matter because they become embedded in our souls like little candlelights, lighting our dark corners through our entire lives.
O holy Child of Bethlehem
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

Once again it is my pleasure to wish all at the Farm a very merry Christmas. Thanks for another year of entertaining reading and thought sharing.
And, let's all take a moment to Thank the "Troops," tomorrow; And, Pray they will be back with us Next Year.
Merry Christmas, All
Best Wishes for your Holiday
Dear Maggie's Farm:
All year you have given a gift that is greater than you can possibly know: you have helped this little soul in her darkest times. I would not have been able to keep my balance in this struggle to help expose the corruption in higher education without you there to help me remember what this country can be.
For our troops: we love you. Semper Fi!
What a lovely house you all live in. Merry Christmas to all who inhabit Maggies Farm. May you continue to flourish and post your wit and wisdom every day of the New Year.
Joyous New Year and Happy Christmas y'all.
Santa Claus is sure to bless!
BD - Happy Christmas to you & yours. All the best
Mr Free Market
Oh, a Happy Christmas to you all! Your delightful and informative site has brightened my life since I discovered it not too long ago. What civilized, entertaining, thoughtful (for the most part!) folks I've found here. I've tossed over the old rabble-rousers for finer sensibilities and I'm much the better for it. Have a warm and cozy Christmas and wonderful New Year!
Blessings to all at the Farm and everyone who makes up this wonderful group! Thank you for the time you put into this space....you make it great!
Merry Christmas and a peaceful and prosperous New Year for all on this beautiful earth.
Maggie's Farm is the greatest! Merry Christmas to Bird Dog and all Maggie's Farmers everywhere from the Green Mtns of Vermont!
Well, we all made it thru another year--and an exciting one, too! The making it thru was due, in large part, to having the fine folks of The Farm to keep a good grip on reality and to add dashes of good cheer and fun.
Many thanks to you all, wherever you may be--both Farmers and Readers--and all good wishes for a magnificent Christmas and a happier New Year.....from the heart of flyover country!
Maggie's Farm is witty and wonderful. Thank you for it. Merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas to all at MF and to all who visit and all who contribute!
Merry Christmas to my favourite blog. Maggies Farm is where I turn first thing every morning. All of the contributors work so hard-very entertaining and I learn something every day. God Bless all of you.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all. Thanks for another year of thought and levity. Looking forward to 2010 with you.
Cheers (still digging out here on LI)
HEALTHY NEW YEAR!
You do a great job with this blog. have several friends (liberal and not), who read your blog everyday--they just don't work in jobs which would allow them to comment! I wonder how many more are out there reading this blog and not commenting for one reason or another? Do you guys care to reveal, or do you have those numbers?
BD. You have a wonderful house--however, I fear that Mrs. BD has failed in her duty to get you to "trim it up for the holidays"! Maybe you were just too busy with this blog!
Merry Christmas folks. Also prayers for our troops and their families during another Christmas at war.
Behold, unto you..........
Is that house one of the work houses, or prisons?
To all who work so hard and enlighten us during the year.
A Merry Christmas to you and the ones you love!
I don't like the term Farm team, sounds like it's a triple A club waiting to be called up to the majors. All pros here. Only one that I can think of that needs to be sent to the minors to work on his game. I can't seem to remember his name. : )
Merry Christmas to you, BD, all the rest at the farm, and all the us lurkers. Maggie's has become one of my "must visit" sites and I thank everyone who makes it possible.
A Merry Christmas to ALL the major leaguers at Maggie's. And thanks for your effort. Another successful crop in 2009. And here's to a prosperous 2010. Maybe jappy'll finally give it a rest.
Garry, A Merry Christmas to you dear sir.
Come and get to know be better man.
The likes of me you will never see.
I have a tiger by the tail, so no, to giving it a rest.
The truth is to important!!!
A Merry Christmas to all and to all a good nite.
And a Merry Christmas to you, Sir!
A poet, you say?
Is there one who says "Nay"?
With the Truth, there can be no doubt.
When it comes to the tooth,
Ones' perception's the Truth
And the tiger's just running about!
Hang onto that tail, jappy! A little tail never hurt. Let me know if it changes its spots.
Merry Christmas to all here at the farm. I've been a reader for years though seldom comment. However, I am compelled to advise "Garry" that truth is truth no matter who perceives it. Some commenters are simply asking for that truth. It is a civil question that deserves a civil answer. It is far from a matter of perception.
OBTW, a Merry Christmas to you!
I will differ (not beg to) on 2 counts (both of yours):
1/ if I have to 'splain that the truth is as you perceive/believe (oui...la meme chose)...that's for another year;
2/ what makes you think anyone deserves an answer to a question (civil or otherwise) that is asked on this site?
This is a private site. We visit as guests.
I hope you had a nice Christmas.
I don't need you to explain anything to me. If you know the truth, tell it. This is not a private site. As readers we expect the same civility we would expect in any public place that enjoys our repeated patronage.
Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year to everyone on the Farm and all who read and participate - my life is better with Maggie's!
Love and peace to all - God bless America
From the Seppofarm to Maggie's Farm, Merry Christmas!
Blessings to you and yours, and thanks for all your contributions to all of us cheery Maggie's Farm readers throughout the year.
May 2010 be the finest year yet.
A Very Merry Christmas to all at The Farm and commenters too. I always looks forward to my visits here. Easily my favorite. Happy New Year too.
A very merry Christmas to all at the Farm, from one of your regular readers in Perth, Western Australia.
While you are all enjoying your winter wonderland, we are lying by the pool in 40 degree celcius heat, eating prawns and generally being pleased with our fortunate lot in life.
Thanks for all the time you spend reminding us of the best of the great America, a truely exceptional land and people.
You certainly have your challenges at the moment, with your founding principles under siege from forces (within and without) who aim to bring you down, but what is so special about you is that you will overcome these - the American people will wake up to what's going on in time to put things right.
We in Australia are waking up to very similar threats from within right now. Our political landscape mirrors yours in many ways, and the good and sensible people of our country are finally realising the fraud that is our current leader/government. I sense similar winds blowing on your side of the world.
Best wishes for a safe and happy Christmas, and God Bless.
Another good year of hope and balance. Maggies is the first tab on my browser, and will remain my favorite for another year.
Merry Christmas, Bird Dog, and all my fellow Farmers.
I hope every Maggie's Farmer is having a Wonderful Christmas and will have a Fantastic New Year!!
Thanks to BD and his krewe for giving us such a swanky place to hang out!
Thanks for adding spice and thought to my daily ritual. A very merry Christmas season and enlightened New Year.
Let me be the first of 2011 to wish all who visit, comment, lurk and contribute to Maggie's a very Merry Christmas.
We have one new addition to our Christmas celebration this year and that warms my old man's heart.
Merry Christmas, back at you, Tom. (Who knew you were old?)
Nice to hear about the new addition!
Merry Christmas to all at Maggies Farm and thank you to the contributors who bring so much to my day. This is such a great blog, God bless all of you and your families.
Happy Christmas to all. So, BD - is your house a Cape or a very fancy bungalow with four chimneys?
Merriest of Chrstmases to all the Maggie's Farmers!!! I hope they get better every year!
All the best to the Maggie's denizens.
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah - I hope everyone enjoys the holidays in the best possible fashion.
I'll echo several of the other comments here to say that all of you: BD, News Junkie, The Barrister, et.al....you have no idea how much this little corner of the digital world helps.
Unlike the song, I'm sure everyone out here wants you to continue to be just who you are.
The warmest greetings to you all in this blessed season and best wishes (for us all) in the coming year...
I hope everyone's Christmas was blessed. Happy Hanukkah! And Happy New Year!
On the 2nd day of Christmas, I send greetings to all. Maggie's enriches my life every day! Thank you.
Merry Christmas to all! Here's to another year of daily reading.
Merry Christmas from my farm to yours (actually it's only a handful of backyard chickens, but not bad for a city boy). I love reading Maggies Farm along with Gerard Vanderleun at American Digest. You guys are still bringing serious cultural game as the years pass. Love the Bob Dylan videos. I saw him in an early electric set at Kleinhan's Music Hall in Buffalo in 1966 and he 's played a lot of the sound track of my life since. Wishing Doc Mercury a healthy year.
What a wonderful Christmas present. The parade of commenters is like a visit with old friends.
Hi, Marianne. I hope you are finding the time to stop in and see us every now and then. You really should be on the masthead.
O Little Town of Bethlehem has never been the most popular carol but I have long found it profound.
Merry Christmas to all.
Let me extend a very sincere Merry Christmas to all the Maggie's Farmers!
And maybe even more importantly, let me thank BD, Barrister, News Junkie, Doc, Bulldog, Gwynnie, Bruce, Dr. Joy, and anybody I might have missed for helping to supply use with so much interesting information on so many topics. It makes Maggie's a unique and valuable place on the net!
Merry Christmas Maggies from Alaska. My go to site every day. God bless all
Merry Christmas from Texas for 2013. May God watch over us all.
Farmalls have natural preditors. That's how they're kept in check.
At first glance I thought it read a "farewell" Christmas and it hit me how much I appreciate this blog.
Thank you for all of your time, effort and insights!
Merry Christmas and have a happy and healthy new year!
Nothing beats a good tractor. Add a front-end loader & a backhoe (!!!) and there's not much you can't do.
Merry Christmas, all. THEG ( the heavy equipment guy ) sends....
Seasons greetings to all you gosh darn Yankees. And a stack of blueberry pancakes, strong coffee and slabs of bacon to each of you. Is it more better to add the berries in with the batter or sprinkle them over the cakes as they bubble up? Discuss.
Blueberries (frozen or fresh) or cranberries (frozen or fresh) in the batter. Yum. Pure Maple Syrup.
BD and the denizens of Maggies - Our humble tribe wish you and your families\significant others a very happy Yule Season, Merry Christmas, and all the best for the pending New Year.
I learned to drive on a FarmAll on my grand-pappy's farm in Indiana as a young boy.
The fact that you posted that picture shows how well I connect with the folks at Maggie's Farm.
Merry Christmas and thanks for putting the time and effort into this great site.
Merry Christmas from Texas and a prosperous and peaceful New Year. Thank you for this wonderful blog, you are my 1st stop every day.
Merry Christmas to all at Maggie's Farm, and to all fellow readers.
Merry Christmas to all at Maggie's Farm, and to all fellow readers.
In the New Year, it would be enjoyable to know more about the contributors and how one can go bout making contributions to this blog.
Maggie's Farm is terrific. I visit every day for my daily dose of sanity.
Like Phil Taylor, I didn't know that you accept contributions. I have never given money to a blog, but I would contribute to Maggie's Farm.
Merry Christmas to one and all.
...and a very Merry Christmas to everyone at Maggie's Farm. I want you to know that I appreciate your blog very much.
I noticed my comments above were made last year. Then noticed these comments were from previous years. I would still like to know about my question in 2014.
"In the New Year, it would be enjoyable to know more about the contributors and how one can go about making contributions to this blog."
