We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Frankly it scares me. Fear that it is an actual intent to burn it all down before Jan 20th so that they can retain power and rule over the ashes. The best case I can make for it is that they are simply trying to screw everything up so badly that Trump's 4 years will be chaos and make it easier for them to win in 2028. That is the best argument I can make to explain their action and THAT is despicable. They want to plunge us into chaos for four years so they can take back power! And it is actually worse because IF they admitted this and actually came out on TV and said it to the nation all of their supporters, all 74 million who voted for her would be OK with it.

Scientific facts vs policy preferences.
Also vs competing goods, like preserving jobs for the less well-off, or people versus animals. Cleaning up is a good thing, and important. A healthy environment is a good thing, and important. But they are not the only good things.
And when I write that, I am frankly giving them the benefit of every doubt. There is the uncomfortable possibility that these interventions benefit their class over others.

A Second Trump Presidency is an Opportunity for Climate Science to Reset ... Rather than doubling down on the misguided notion that science is an authority that can dictate policy, scientists should strive to delineate between scientific facts and their political preferences
Agreed. Science and policy should be clearly delimited.
QUOTE:
Thus, when Trump has done things like call the entire concept of climate change a hoax, this can legitimately be called out as science denial.
Agreed. Anthropogenic global warming is a strongly supported scientific finding.
QUOTE:
Thus, it will not be strictly “anti-science,” when the Trump administration withdraws from the Paris Agreement for a second time, or when it implements policies more friendly to domestic fossil fuel production.
Trump based his decision on his science denialism, so any derived policy is rationally unfounded and scientifically unmoored. While science and policy should be delimited, one can't devise realistic policies or even have reasonable policy discussions while denying the scientific facts.
