Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Galifornia's legislature is made up of the Hispanic black and Asian mafias. They are there for two reasons; to put their tribe first and to steal as much money as they can. That's why California is going broke and their police and justice infrastructure is collapsing, Those people in charge don't gie a shit, all that matters to them is to give their tribe free stuff so they can get reelected and to steal as much as possible while in office. That is California's problem and it won't change without a revolution of some kind. This is quickly becoming America's problem too.
Elections are stolen, the people who steal them are also stealing your tax dollars. This all works because the politicians separate us into ethnic tribes and then stoke the flames of anger with constant stories and rumors of racism and sexism. This 100% explains the craziness of gender on LGQTB politics. No they ax Survey: X-percent of "Pro-Palestine" protesters had job offer rescinded in past six months
Is this true ?? Just as likely to be a poorly designed and/or biased survey. ( "Dewey Sweeps Nation" ) ?? How many "non-protestors" had similar interview questions and/or experiences ?? But, the thought that it's true...... :) "But, the thought that it's true..."
Yes indeed. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of people. Should you lose your 2nd amendment rights if you are accused of domestic violence? Yes, a couple dozen people kill their spouses each year but should that justify taking away 2nd amendment rights from a couple million people a year who did not and do not kill their spouse? I knew a lawyer who told me he would not take a divorce case unless the woman would accuse her husband of domestic violence. He said it made everything easier for him. He could immediately get the man out of the house and a protective order, it was used as a lever to get a better settlement for his client. It was classic dirty lawyer tricks. It is common. Ironically someone who really wants to kill his spouse or ex can easily, arguably more easily, kill them with a knife or hammer or baseball bat. But this is really a war on the 2nd amendment and not about anyone's safety.
“In 2021, the Biden Administration got $42.45 billion from Congress to deploy high-speed Internet to millions of Americans,” Zero people connected. I’m sure our esteemed members of the Grand Olde Pretenders will have hearings and fancy speeches. Diatribes at agency officials. And sweep it under the rug.
Plus $1.3 billion was allocated for EV charging stations nation wide. I think a dozen or less have been built. In contrast: *In the mid 1870’s, Congress allocated around $57,000 dollars to build a telegraph line from San Diego, CA to Tuscan, AZ, including a few point in between. General James J. Dana, Chief Quartermaster of the Department of Arizona, managed the project. This line stretched over 700 miles. Up and over mountains and across desert. The citizens of Arizona supplied all the poles for the line. The project came in under budget by $10,000 dollars. I can’t find the exact amount of time it took for the line to be built, but I’m guessing around about a year, plus or minus a few months. Our present government isn’t really about helping The People. It’s about lining pockets. They steal from you, at the point of a gun, and give to themselves and their buddies. All the while telling you what a bunch of irredeemable deplorable's you are, if you raise the slightest whimper in protest. They hesitate not one moment sicking the FBI, IRS, or any of the other hundreds of alphabet agencies upon you. Agencies that you pay for. In Pride We Trust. *Facts taken from the very good book On the Border with Crook by John G. Bourke 7 chargers. Apparently it's hard to find locations, get permits, and make sure they actually get supplied with the HV AC they're going to need.
The $42 bil for high speed internet, that's so far still not been spent on anything. But a full-size Starlink rig costs $500, and $120 a month for unlimited internet. (Guess they've got enough satellites up to drop the limits they used to have...) So call it about $2k for the initial year. So that's about 21 million rigs at retail prices. But there's just not enough graft in that. And Musk just HAD to go buy Twitter, cutting off that political advantage and ticking off the DC establishment. So he's persona non grata in DC at this point. No wonder Starlink was rejected for the rural program... 'No Tax On Tips' Reveals the Chasm Between Left and Right
What a great idea! One of Trump's biggest, unsung policies was the suspension of RMDs for tax-deferred retirement accounts. Those of us who could get by without the mandatory withdrawals were able to accumulate larger retirement savings. That was a great benefit for the petit millionaires who'd been slowly but surely preparing for a comfortable retirement. Exempting tips from taxation would be a similar favor to millions of working stiffs, especially those living close to the bone. And I, for one, would be happier to tip generously, knowing Uncle Sam isn't trying to strongarm a slice of the tip. Why? How about no tax for the first $20,000 for fishermen? Or golf caddies, or car wash workers? Why target one group at the expense of others. Cut taxes! I'm all for it. But why only tips??? You can't explain it or justify it. so you have to dance around it. I think everyone should be treated equally under the law. If I work as a roofer why should I pay taxes on all my income but if I work as a waiter I can exempt half of it from even being reported? It makes no sense.
So what happens if this were to pass and I as a roofing contractor declare that half the money I pay my employees is "tips"? I decide to pay them minimum wage but "tip" them another $10 an hour because they did a good job AND as a favor to millions of working stiffs. We should NOT build inequities into our laws just to buy votes. Tips are voluntary. Any service staff can not declare their paycheck as a tip. It is a wage. Taxable. Any business that mandates a tip makes the tip a part of wages and should be taxed.
I consider tips to be a gift and the IRS regulations exempt several thousand dollars, per year, of taxation on gifts. I also pay in cash to make sure it is separate from the non voluntary charges. First of all 100% of tips are taxable they are considered earned income by the IRS. My point is why should one segment of the working class get a special tax exemption on earned income. Secondly you fell into my trap because IF you want to call tips a "gift" then why can't any employer call any portion of income paid to employees a "gift"?
It is a mistake to start carving out special interest groups for better treatment by our government. There should be equal treatment under the law. This is a Trump proposal and I support it in accordance with what I stated in my previous post. Is it a voluntary gift or a 'mandated' gift? Gifts are currently untaxed up to a specific amount.
I also view churches charity to individuals in the same manner as it is voluntary. Now, lets have fun with GOVERNMENT "CHARITY".

OK, Things are heating up in WNBA. I'm thinking that one of these fools is going to "take out" Caitlin Clark. Break an arm or a leg or something. The hate is getting extreme now.
It's crazy. Clark is the best thing that has happened to the WNBA. The tv viewing is setting records. And this is how they treat their star player?
"Don't try and understand women. Women understand women and they hate each other. " - Al Bundy In 1982 we sublet our house in San Francisco to a guy who was supposed to be on an international exchange work agreement with Bank of America. They were very well organized. Even gave me a B of A business cared with HR person who verify employment.Three days after we left town and they had taken over the tenancy of our home, a moving van pulled up and several men got out. They cleared our home of EVERYTHING. Not one shred of paper was left behind. When neighbors saw the van they were confused and thought we had decided to move out. They tell us the house was cleared in less than two hours. When I reported this event to the SF police they wouldn't even take a written report. "This outfit has done this three times already. I can tell you we won't find any of your things so why waste our time." All the furniture, clothing, pictures, dishes, things stored in the basement--even the family Bible were stolen and in 1982 the SF police did not care. We never went back. We knew forty two years ago that the rot had set in.
Second story: I worked in a high rise building downtown. We had a cafeteria downstairs in the basement for the people working there. There were two separate immigration offices in that building. The secretaries from each of those immigration law firms used to meet over lunch and talk about how much money a local immigration official had accepted as bribe money for a particular client (s). They would exchange notes on how to get a client special treatment in the immigration system. I don't know maybe it was always that dirty, but there was no support system for the innocent. |
