Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

By 2027 the payment on our national debt will be $2 trillion a year. This is based on a moderate forecast of inflation and interest rates and a continued yearly increase in the total debt. In other words this is a best case estimate it could get worse if either our spending increases or inflation increases. $2 trillion a year in interest payments!!
A smart lady once pointed out how great socialism is, until you run out of other people’s money. Maybe I should check with Education Secretary Miguel Cardona. I might have the quote wrong. Maybe Mrs. Thatcher said, socialism is great, we’ll just keep printing money!
Fix public schools:
End teachers unions. Make every school autonomous run by an elected board of five parents whose children are in the school. Make the schools principal answer to the board and the boards criteria is only quality/success of education. Give the principal hire and fire power without recourse over the teachers in his school. End all sex education in K-12. Put TV cameras in every classroom and make the video available for viewing. School employees should not be elected to the board. There is a conflict of interest in negotiating pay, benefits and hiring. The same conflict that Congress has in voting for its own pay raise.
When faced with a paywall, you can try hitting 'F9', which is Print Preview - this often works.
With the more sophisticated paywalls, like this one, you can try using this website: https://archive.ph/ and then paste in the URL that you are trying to read. It's not perfect - in this case, there are a lot of blank pages you have to scroll past, dozens of them. But you can read the article. Oh yeah. I have been to that link before.
I can never get past the verification process. It never ends. Or all rights in New York. Next time there is a manufactured crisis, New York will have containment camps. The left is trying to erase (everything good and decent) the aftermath of World War II, specifically the Nuremberg Trials. Experimental medical procedures without the patient's consent. Take the jab or face the camp. Welcome to the fundamentally transformed America. You have no rights, only privileges.
Trump and his supporters are the real threat to peace and Our Democracy. See all the bad things they do. B. Hammer: New York will have containment camps.
To clarify, are you saying the government should have no power of quarantine? That would be contrary to centuries of common law and practice.

Yes, it would be contrary to centuries of common sense. Government, especially government of the left, has proven time after time that they can not be trusted with such authority. There are over 100 million that could testify to such abuses, but government killed them.

To clarify, the power to quarantine is far more likely to be abused by the government than to be used in an appropriate and beneficial way. As we have ample evidence of with the governments covid response.
How about you clarify where the constitution gives the government the authority to have mandatory quarantines.

B. Hammer: Yes, it would be contrary to centuries of common sense.
“Common sense” since ancient times has been to isolate those sick with contagious diseases. Germ theory meant a better understanding of how diseases are transmitted, allowing for better policies, but quarantining has never gone away. So, your position is that society is helpless if someone with a contagion wants to walk down a busy city street. James: To clarify, the power to quarantine is far more likely to be abused by the government than to be used in an appropriate and beneficial way. Abuse of any government power can certainly occur. The government can tax you or even imprison you. It is not always just. However, in modern democracies, there are checks on government power, including review by the judiciary. Its imperfect. James: How about you clarify where the constitution gives the government the authority to have mandatory quarantines. Article I. Most quarantines are handled by the states or local governments under their own statutory authority. Of note, quarantines date to the beginning of the U.S. republic, such as the 1793 yellow fever epidemic. So, your position is that society is helpless if someone with a contagion wants to walk down a busy city street.

Islam is not a religion. It is a political philosophy disguised as a religion. It would be no different if you were to declare that communism/socialism/fascism were a religion.
Would you support pedophilia if it disguised itself as a religion? OneGuy: Islam is not a religion.
Of course it's a religion. Islam is an Abrahamic monotheist belief based on the divine revelation of the prophet Muhammad. OneGuy: It would be no different if you were to declare that communism/socialism/fascism were a religion. They are secular in nature: Communism as defined by Marx is a political theory, socialism is an economic theory, while fascism is an ideology. OneGuy: Would you support pedophilia if it disguised itself as a religion? Laws have supremacy in the secular world over religion. So, human sacrifice or pedophilia can be outlawed, even if it part of a religion. Islam is not in the secular world and Moslems will tell you there is no 'moderate' Islam.
Communism, fascism, and socialism are all political ideologies and self identifying political ideologies. From Stuart’s Potpourri: This is truly scary:
QUOTE: Northwestern University’s student government offered “mental health support” for students traumatized by news that a conservative speaker was coming to campus. After the Supreme Court declared race-based college admissions policies unconstitutional, the Boston University School of Law student government assured students that BU’s “wellness resources,” a.k.a. therapy, could help them “navigate these times.” These are future lawyers and other government sycophants. These are the type of people that will work in high offices of government and post pro-Hamas images on websites. Perhaps they will work for the FBI and intimidate a teen into posting offensive memes, all so they can do an early morning raid. Meanwhile, these same children sleep with stuffed animals into their forties! I'm conflicted about that whole "stuffed animal" thing. Should I worry about our culture's future, or go shopping for stock in a toy manufacturer?
When you apply for a security clearance in government you are required to declare any mental health issues and any mental health services that you have received. This might be a legitimate question for a job application too.
Stuart's potpourri... It is obvious that blue city majors view retailers property as 'community' property and it should be fair warning that ALL cultures are NOT equal.
In siding with Hamas, the Palestinians have once again done what they have so persistently done since 1948: proving themselves extremely adept at seizing precisely the wrong opportunity at precisely the wrong moment.
"Right-Wing Extremists" and the Jews.
Those handy all-purpose scapegoats for the "progressive" mindset. https://www.theblaze.com/columns/opinion/the-competency-crisis-is-upon-us
We have placed more decision-making power into the hands of massive bureaucracies than at any time in human history, but those bureaucracies are increasingly staffed by functionaries who could not make a basic repair to their homes or cars if their lives depended on it. The glue of competency that held this complicated social machinery together is coming apart, yet we continue to shift more and more responsibility to these failing institutions. We are being ruled by DIE rather than merit. Police in this blue state will continue enforcing ‘draconian’ handgun law ruled unconstitutional by court
QUOTE: Maryland State Police will continue enforcing the state's handgun law for now, despite a federal appeals court ruling that the licensing requirement is unconstitutional. "At this time, the HQL law remains in effect and there are no immediate changes in the process to purchase a firearm in Maryland," the department wrote in an agency-wide advisory after last week's ruling. . . . Maryland officials have 14 days to file for a rehearing before the full appeals court. If the state does not file within that window, the court will issue a mandate seven days later, which means the final court ruling would be Dec. 11, Fox45 News reported. Officials have not yet confirmed whether they plan to file for a rehearing or, alternatively, seek a review before the U.S. Supreme Court. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/police-blue-state-continue-enforcing-draconian-handgun-law-ruled-unconstitutional-court Looks to me like they are flipping the court the bird and ignoring the ruling. feeblemind: Looks to me like they are flipping the court the bird and ignoring the ruling.]
No, that's just part of the process. The court has yet to issue a mandate. The state has two weeks to appeal before that happens. Until citizens are allowed to sue for damages from the 2nd amendment usurpers, the prog states will continue to play the game.

mRNA COVID vaccines, previously not used outside of small laboratory animal studies, were given to billions of people after perfunctory and rushed clinical trials. As scientists learned in 2022, mRNA vaccines cause a ‘class switch’ to IgG4 antibodies. Another study found that this specific antibody subclass is associated with more aggressive cancer growth and causes hyperprogressive cancer disease in mice and humans. https://www.igor-chudov.com/p/hyperprogressive-cancers-due-to-covid Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson Blames ‘Right-Wing Extremists’ for City’s Problems
Hizonna Da Mayuh is correct. Chicago is TEEMING with Right Wing Extremists. Look at what happened to Jussie Smollett, who got assaulted in the streets of Chicago by MAGA people several years ago. It was 10-15 degrees outside and 3 in the morning, just the time and temperature when MAGA people are flooding the streets of Chicago. Be kind to Jussie Smollett. He went to jail for his crime of faking a racist attack. Took his punishment like a man. His family didn't use their power to get him off. And our justice system proved once again that it is fair and treats everyone equally. LOL!
I hadn't kept track of his walk through the justice system. Your posting prompted me to find out. He served all of six days.
One Guy: Took his punishment like a man.
He did what narcissists do, he denied everything regardless of the facts. Gringo: Your posting prompted me to find out. He served all of six days. Of a 150-day sentence, which is on appeal. Book sells only 3500 - many years ago I worked for a small publisher, out of about 100 titles most of our sales were concentrated in 10 or 12 titles. We had several titles were the original order was 5000 copies and we still had 1000 in storage several years later.
They were doing it all wrong. Obama wrote the book, so to speak, of how to make a fortune in the publishing business. First you get elected to office. Then you sell out your constituency and let foreign interests buy or steal from your country. And then you write a book that no one is interested in, your foreign sources launder $60 million to the publisher who pays you $60 million up front for the fake book you wrote. It's almost like drawing silly pictures with zero artistic ability and having a secret auction where a few dozen of your grifters buy you childish paintings for half a Million apiece and the media sees nothing, hears nothing and says nothing.

Obama was a best-selling author years before he became president. |
