We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

The Hijacking of Pediatric Medicine


We linked this post a few days ago, but I am re-linking it because it seems so important.


I understand that we live in an hyper-politicized world right now. It seems more so than in the past, but I can't say. It does seem to me that "the long march through the institutions" has been occuring. I especially hate to see it occur in my field of clinical medicine. 


I do not mind debate about the role of government in medical care, and will even listen to arguments in favor of Medicare for all citizens. That is a different topic.

Re "the Long March": Nice to hear that you are beginning to realize what many others have seen for decades. Surely you did not think that the Left would leave clinical practice, much less pediatrics, to the vagaries of independent thought, did you? As a physician, you are concerned with reality and empirical evidence. These are the first things that Leftists attack. "Rachel" Levine a woman? Seriously? Would you play along with that mind game? If so you are helping your enemy. It is all of a piece, Dr. Bliss. You will not be spared. Be aware of what you are up against, and be ready to accept the consequences. As Solzhenitsyn said, you only have one conscience. Good luck to you, and all who insist on speaking the truth.

I can remember a time when pediatrics and medicine in general were concerned with everyone's health, but it seemed to begin disappearing the moment the government began channeling a great deal of money into medicine in the 50'-60's time period. A lot of the religiously affiliated hospitals, who even served the poor, were pushed out and we descended into corporate care, insurance, and assembly line medicine to include protocols for all. Medicine lost its soul and its smile as it signed on to all government care all the time. Now they will even throw in abortion and assisted suicide for a small tax-deductible fee. Government changed and the people changed... it's all about the money.
