We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
This really is good news! One of the reasons everybody is so animated about pre-existing conditions is that it becomes a huge problem when somebody with an existing health issue is laid off or changes jobs. Now, you can buy your own health insurance and your employer is incentivized to help you pay for it.
My parents bought a life insurance policy for me when I was born. Wouldn't it be a great change if you could buy health insurance for your baby when they are born and continue it through out their life! Amortizing health costs over a lifetime would probably also be a lot cheaper than over whatever the average time an employee stays with one company.
I've been waiting for someone to stick their head up and say that a lot of the problems health insurance are because your employer pays for it. It apparently took Trump to have the insight and guts to do it!
Every day I am more thankful that he is our President!
It isn't really Medicare that they are proposing and it is a stalking horse to destroy Medicare.
A senior who has Medicare will have paid into it for about 47 years before they can ever use it. If they were to create a system called “Medicare for All.” none of those new beneficiaries will have to pay into if for 47 years.
Also when the senior retire becomes eligible for Medicare a premium will be deducted from his SS check to pay for it. It isn't free. Under the plan the Democrats have for “Medicare for All” it would be free for all (the low income and illegal aliens). No monthly premium will be deducted from the welfare checks.
AND when the senior uses his Medicare he is responsible for a co-payment of about 20%. Again Medicare is not free. But the new Democrat “Medicare for All” plan wouldn't have a co-payment. It would be paid 100% by the taxpayer.
WHat “Medicare for All” really is, is a huge bait and switch intended to harm seniors. I can only guess that they want to reduce the access of seniors to healthcare AND they want to rob that revenue stream the seniors create now under Medicare.
