We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Not just the Dems. And ABCNNBCBS and their dead tree fellow travelers.
But the Koch-sucking Rove Republican swill as well. Never forget where Flake and Sasse and Collins and Murkowski and all the Shrubs, including their "adopted son" Little Marco stand.
I read somewhere recently that when one side refuses to accept the results of a transparently free & fair election, then the integrity of the constitution is in question and a county is entering a civil war. The end stage of the war is when the guns come out, battle lines are drawn, and winner is decided as a consequence of the other being vanquished.
Good news means nobody's clicking in regularly. Newspapers aren't being bought. (Well, with the internet they're dying anyway.) CNN isn't being obsessively watched. (But they've managed to commit seppuku by being partisan to a point where most people will watch ANYTHING news-related but CNN...)
So you gin up a controversy wherever you can. Clicks keep the lights on - good news doesn't generate clicks. Bad news does. So keep the bad news going as long as possible, pump relatively inconsequential stories up to world-shaking status (Remember the Alar scare a few decades back?) and constantly keep people fearful - they'll click in just to make sure they're not missing the latest.
And the constant drumbeat desensitizes people - so they have to crank things up even MORE...
