We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Always open to suggestions for additional stops. At this point, the hike is about 12 miles long, close to 4 hours of walking without stops. We will have stops, however, so let's call it 5 hours right now. The map looks like this, right now. Not too bad, since we finish at a chocolate shop (and distillery - Widow Jane's) which is near the water taxi back to Manhattan. Along the way - Literary Row (more like a series of stops at homes of literary figures such as Auden, Wolfe, Capote and Miller), Plymouth Church, the Roebling's apartment and offices, Admiral's Row, DUMBO, and a few other neat or obscure places.
I left off 2 breweries, for the moment (ran out of space to add addresses in the mapping function). We can always add them on, since they are all along the route.
As an FYI, the Red Hook Grain Terminal and Warehouse are on this, since someone had mentioned them before. I've pretty much combed Atlas Obscura, so if you've got anything else you think may be fun...and whether you're coming or not...please make suggestions.
