We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

We can tell you're out of the loop - they're not "skeptics", they're called "climate deniers". You know, like holocaust deniers. Except apparently they deny there's such a thing as "climate". You control the language, you control the terms of the debate. We need to start calling these people "climaphobes", just like they call everybody else phobic about anything they don't like despite the fact that a phobia is an irrational fear of, not a rational dislike of.

I don't know. I'm not sure you could ruin the word "progressive." After all, Wilson was the first progressive president and he watched "Birth of a Nation" and championed the KKK. They also promoted eugenics.

I remember a few years ago, Hillary proudly clarified the type of progressive she was an early 20th Century progressive. If there wasn't a reason to oppose her before, that should have settled it.

When I was a little kid I recall a story in a Reader's Digest Condensed Stories for Children volume about the horse Snowman.

Snowman was an old workhorse that was literally on the truck going to slaughter when his soon-to-be new owner spotted him and bought him for $80.

Snowman turned into a champion hunter and jumper and dominated the east coast shows for several years while becoming a beloved family pet as well.

I found a documentary called Harry and the Snowman on the Netflix last night. If you like animal stories with happy endings and/or horse stories in particular, you must see this movie.

I think it's time for a special prosecutor. No, not for Russians hacking the election but for Obama trying to sabotage the administration and the country. Find the leaks, put Obama under oath and find out what he knew and when did he know it. Let's get Valerie Jarret under oath and expose her part in this. Put John Brennan under oath and find out what his part in this is. And Loretta Lynch, Eric Holder, John Koskinen and others.

This is dangerous. The Democrats are attempting a palace coup but they are putting the country at risk.

I would add Nancy Pelosi and say let's find out what she knew and when she knew it but honestly I'm not sure she knows anything and if she did I'm not sure she remembers.

Yeah, I don't think you'll get Pelosi while Trump's Pres. He's a big bang for the buck guy, and even if you got everything she knows, it wouldn't be worth the cost of getting it.

That Valerie Jarrett thing is...really weird.

The Obama's home is 8,000 sq ft so I am assuming that they have a separate in-law suite that Valerie has moved into (side question -- where is Michele's Mom living these days? Is she back in Chicago?).

It strongly implies that Obama's house in DC is being turned into a political headquarters of some sort and VJ will be the day-to-day director of operations. Concerning.

I've met Mike Pence, and have always liked him, but this is just too much for even my loyal sensibilities... He has proven himself to be a truly neanderthal anachronism, a relic, out of touch with the times in which he attempts to govern.

IMHO if I were the president or governor or any politicians I would insist that my staff never email, never tweet, never text, and drop from all social websites. Leave the press releases to competent people hired to do that job and everyone else shut the hell up. As for internal communications I am more convinced than ever that all internet related options are too risky and all being hacked. So no internet either, period. The only communication would be official mail, face to face, and secured communication methods.

I suspect that our enemies and our friends know everything our government and individual politicians do at the same time they do it. Seriously does anyone on earth still believe that the internet or phones are not being hacked?
