Hope and Change Day in the USA

I think people are expecting too much from a new administration, too much good and/or too much bad. My hope is for a return to simple common sense. I am all nuanced-out.

Isn't assuming the preferred gender identification of these digital assistants a form of microaggression?

And of course we all know if the digital assistants were named Bill and spoke in baritone voices, that'd be just as problematic in terms of the patriarchal assumption that only a man is qualified to give you answers to your questions.

I try my best to assume people are making good-faith arguments but these people are just trolling.

Never assume good-faith from leftists. They do not believe in honor. Their main goal in life is to harass and pester normal people.

The Air Force made the voice systems in their cockpits female long ago after studies showed that the pilots paid more attention to female than male voices. My GPS and phone have both male and female settings with different accents, anyone who actually cares could easily change the voice.

Presidential pardons: Why is it one of the main focus of the last days? I assume you could pardon people on the first day in office? Maybe it happens daily throughout their term, it's just not newsworthy? Consider the inmate who was already in when you took office, got to sit there for 8 years, and then the last week released. Thanks, Buddy. Would have been nice if you'd thought of it sooner.

Buried in the thousands of commutations and pardons is the pardon of four brothers from Roma Texas who were Mexican cartel leaders. This seems like a very odd choice and fails the sniff test. I wonder if perhaps someone crossed Obama's palms with a few millions of dollars for some of these pardons.

As far as we know, Obama did not offer a pardon to Hillary Clinton. I wonder what the backstory is to that. Was it offered but declined behind the scenes? Was it requested but refused behind the scenes?

Well, I must say I'm a tad - but only a tad - disappointed. I've had some people assure me that today at this time fire would begin to rain down from the heavens, the earth would open up and swallow a great mass of humanity and cats would be lying down with dogs. I've had others assure me that at this moment the sky would be alight with a thousand rainbows, flying unicorns would be crapping gold nuggets all over the place and we'd all be joining hands and singing the theme song from "The Love Boat".

Instead, all that's happened so far is the dog got up and stretched and yawned and horked up part of his early-morning trash can raid and then gave me that disgusted look like I'm a bad housekeeper for not keeping the dog hork cleaned up off the carpet and laid back down and started snoring again. Which is exactly what he does every day about this time. Dog hork on the carpet yesterday, dog hork on the carpet today, probably gonna be dog hork on the carpet tomorrow. This is not what I was promised but it's exactly what I expected.

you are puzzled over concepts like "liberty", "responsibility" and constitutional limitations on government. that's to be expected, you've never been exposed to them as a notional adult. but get used to it.

Come to a red, mostly rural state and your DMV experience will be a breeze. Pleasant, courteous, and hardly any waiting. Not even a number to take as the people who work there will take you in order of arrival. And people are courteous enough to know who was ahead of them.
