Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Wood Duck hatchlings

A leap of faith. Few if any of these cute fuzzballs will survive to adulthood. Turtles, snakes, hawks. Also, the parents put themselves at high risk to care for them.

What a treat to watch. I lost count of all the babies! I am still trying to figure out how all the eggs fit in the nesting box, they must have been 3 or 4 deep in there.

But they jump, hit the water and almost immediately pop up, shake their heads and look for mom and the crew.

No damage done! They're mostly fluff anyway.

Outstanding...a real treat to watch. And just think...no government help, no safe spaces, no whining, no regulation--I could go on but you get the idea.

I admit to being a sucker for such posts (I've watched it five or six times). The little babes with their mom makes you believe God is in his heaven and all is right with our very weird and disruptive world. Thanks, Gwynnie!
