For me, the point of greatest significance about all this is that the Democrat party kingmakers have known for years -- possibly decades -- that the Clintons are felonious scum, with Hillary being the lower of the two, and still felt that Mrs. Clinton was their best shot at extending their grip upon the Oval Office. They embraced criminality, probably under the assumption that the fatal facts about Mrs. Clinton could be effaced until she'd been firmly installed as president.

Every political party contains lowlifes. Power attracts that sort of person. But when a party's top managers consciously embrace the kind and degree of criminality Hillary Clinton represents, it's time for the entire nation to take note and reject it, whether or not the individual criminals in its ranks can be brought to justice.

Re: NH servers democracy well

If the reports are accurate on the large number of undecided NH voters going into the voting booth I don't see how they serve our election process at all. Who does that? I find it hard to believe.

It's not just the Yankees, though. I read reports leading up to Iowa that upwards of 60% of voters were undecided going into the caucuses. I suspect (hope) it's people lying to pollster (I would) or just media hype.

Our use is limited, and I wish the first-in-the-nation primary rotated among several small states.

We cull the herd. We give advance notice of sea-changes, though the message is often unclear. That's about it.

I would be surprised if our number of undecideds is very different from what you would find in any other state. You might be surprised how powerful seeing someone live is, even to the cynical. I've had a Kasich sign out for a month, but went to see Carly over the weekend and almost switched. And I'm not an emotional guy.

I like the idea of rotating first-state primaries.

My state is in the March 1st super for the first time. Usually, ours is so late in the game that many of the candidates are no longer in it. I wonder if a nationwide primary date would work.

Did you see Carly speak at a diner? It seems like NH residents eat at diners for every meal.

They are great photo ops, aren't they? The Red Arrow is the best-known to candidates. It's still a traditional stop in my family. We used to go when I was a boy in the 1960's, when it was a bit more, uh, authentic (greasy). It's a bit more made-to-look-like-a-diner now. Still fine.

Just a thought. Perhaps the dems thought they would throw a bone to the females, keep hillary placated, but think with the gop we now have, it really doesn't matter if hillary loses and a republican wins, the dem party wins either way.

Two things occur to me right away:
1. She is simply unaware of how little she knows about food and our bodies needs. She is clueless but it doesn't stop her from making a fool of herself.

2. In the movie L.A. Story there is a great scene where each of the characters orders a coffee and they each try to outdo the other with their orders of double latte orange cream, yadda yadda. Simply stringing cliches together in the hope of sounding important and intelligent.

The good news for this health nut is unless she is unlucky and eats something terribly stupid she will probably be pretty healthy most of her life with decreasing health as she passes her mid 60's to 70's and die from more or less natural causes in her late 70's to early 80's. In other words just like everyone else. There is no magic food and no 'bad' food. It's all just food.

Is Europe worth saving? Again? My ancestors left there because of the constant turmoil over religion, monarchies, socialism, taxes, lack of opportunity which finally got the continent into a couple of really destructive wars.

No, let's pull back for a while and watch what happens.

The major difference between the US and Europe are quite simple; size, borders and language. First off, Europe is about the same land mass at 3.9 million square miles. However it is made up of many different countries, different languages, different currencies, different cultures, different religions (though primarily Christian) and each country has at least three or more neighbors, (not always friendly) but we all managed to evolved over the past 2,000 years.

Then there's America; 3.8 million square miles, 50-states all speaking the same language, same currency, basically the same culture and religion with two basically benign neighbors and only for 200 years.

American's immigrants had the benefit of learning from their European past as to what did and didn't work. So other than the civil war that came this close to splitting the country, America has been able to remain isolated from the rest of the world.

Now, the US is everywhere and in everything. Let's see how well that works out long term. As for Europe, we're okay with things for the most part. No one's living under bridges, no one is denied health care or has to sell their homes to pay for major health care problems. The immigration issue is a new one and we'll sort it out eventually. And hopefully better than Americans have with your immigration issues.

And if you want to see real democracy in action, go visit Switzerland sometime. They could probably teach you a few things. :-)

Ooh, have to disagree with a lot of this. Europe has a variety of languages, but you are one race and genetically pretty closely related - enough so that only a few decades ago the word "race" meant ridiculously small differences like Celts, Teutons, Catalonians, but meant a great deal to Europeans and their divisions. We've pretty much solved the problem of the Flemish getting along with the Walloons over here. You are attempting what we think of as the "introductory module" of co-existence and are only recently trying something harder.

There is as yet no evidence that socialism is going to hold up when people don't all look like second-cousins. So far it's just a big tribalism.

As for all the people under cover and getting health care, you might drop by Romania again. It's better than it was, but still. If you weren't counting them in your original summary, they would nod and say "We're used to that. You forgot us for a long while."

And then there are the Roma, who might also disagree with your description.

And Switzerland, yes. Nice barriers there. Not as good as oceans, but still pretty good. And a great gig making their living by hiding other people's money.

Hope so. After the U.S. military spent 46 years defending all of Western Europe from the Soviets, it's nice to see all that cash you saved from having to defend yourselves put to good use.

Homeless people in Europe, Russia and Belgium with their own stories. I think you had better modify "no one." Try Googling, or look at Wiki's article on Homelessness.

Two fellow employees in Latin America spent time in Germany. One was a German national who spent his childhood in Peru courtesy of his expatriate mining engineer father. The German national got his university education in Germany, and returned to Latin America. The other was the son of Italian immigrants to Peru. He worked as an engineer for Volkswagen in Germany.

Both had a similar reaction to Germany: if your family hadn't been in town for the last 500 years, you were not worth talking to.

That is not the experience of immigrants to the US.

I think you will do so.

As I see it, it works like this:
1. the native population decides, on the whole, not to have sufficient children to replenish those who die
2. you allow large numbers of immigrants who will have children in large numbers, so that in a number of generations they and their descendants will comprise the majority of the population
3. at some point in this process, you will reach a tipping point where the immigrants arrive in such numbers that they will impose, to some degree, their culture and you Germans will increasingly defer to them.
4. by the time enough Germans have realised that this is not what they want, it will be too late.

Krauthammer is partially correct: there are some young'uns (actually too many) who would vote for him for the free stuff. But there are a lot of others of the same age group who understand that nothing is "free" and figure out that it will be their families (parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc.) whose hard work will pay for same. The same group also realizes that, if they are going to benefit financially from the degrees they earn, it is only fair they pay at least some of the costs of said degrees, and not expect other people to overly subsidize same degrees through taxes.
