Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Greenfield: Know Your Social Justice Warriors... Each identity requires representation. Sure you’ve got a black woman on your team. But where are the intersexual Muslim gluten survivors? What about body positive transsexual transethnic vegan feminist ADHD survivors who hate women? Why are you such a bigot? We’re organizing a hashtag to denounce you on Twitter.

Gender Identification:
Glad to see we haven't hit rock bottom yet and have more to look forward to. Way back in the '70s, in high school when all this gender stuff first made the news, we had a bad philosophical joke:
What if I'm a woman trapped in a man's body, but I'm a lesbian? It was a joke, not to be confused with whatever this is they've got going with gender. I assume these gender warriors have adopted English with its non-gendered, egalitarian words and phrases. I don't see how anyone can speak French, Spanish, Italian, many Asian languages, etc. which seethe with gendered words and phrases. Warning: Literature Ahead
Ok, I admit as soon as I saw the words "trigger warning" I stopped reading. If the humans being offended and traumatized by mere mention of some presumed, fantacized or actual event in their past are so pathetically weak and fragile that they believe the world needs to stop turning because ME ! ME! ME! Please do us all a favor: COMMIT YOURSELF TO THE NEAREST PADDED ROOM. FOREVER. Thank you. - sick of pathetic losers and what passes for "higher education". Too much time on our hands. YOu want something to cry about I'll give you something to cry about. Silly me, I thought that being able to relate to writing made it more interesting.
"I'll give you something to cry about" reminds me of my mother right before I got MORE spanking--richly deserved--I could whimper and sniffle for a long time. Dear Pope:
Yes--I agree--every human being should reject any form of genocide, or anything remotely like the gas chambers in Germany. I agree with the absolute rejection of that experience from the realm of human possibility. HOWEVER it is not only the Jewish community which has suffered from genocide. The question I would like to ask you is this: When can we take a Jewish person to court on a civil, or criminal matter? In the US they are so well protected that trying to get court protection agains Jewish criminals is not a possibility. How can we in any civilized country with a rule of law pretend that "all are equal" when it is absolutely impossible to get any member of one group into the courtroom? If one is so fortunate as to hold any member of that group accountable--how on earth can you get a conviction--after all they are now absolutely protected and can only be held accountable within the privacy of their own tribal chambers. Please dear Pope--tell me how that works? hey lady, lay off the anti-Semitic rants.
your bullshit whining drivel about Jews and whatever it is you think they've done to you is past contemptible. doesn't anyone call you out on this crap? you're against gas chambers? that's good to know. congrats. This is not the first time "faculty wife" has posted a general rant on Jews.
He/she is a known and unpleasant presence here. she is a known and unpleasant presence here.
Not everyone feels that way. point out what part of her anti-Jewish ranting meets your approval.

Many small business producers end up earning less than minimum wage when they sell their wares. Now, if the writer has sold their time to others, then they can discuss wages, minimum or otherwise.
At the SJW link, there is a photo of two individuals holding a sign that says, "Capitalism isn't working!"
This statement is true, capitalism isn't working. It is rather the private investment and ownership of the means of production, distribution and exchange of goods and wealth. But we now live in the knowledge economy made up of knowledge workers whose main capital is knowledge. Knowledge that is held in private ownership and, although subsidized by public schooling and taxpayer backing of student loans, the investment in knowledge is also a private quantity. There is no way, beyond enslavement, for the state to own or control the capital means of production, distribution and exchange of goods and wealth in a knowledge economy. Ipso facto, if you argue for something other capitalism in regards to knowledge workers, you are advocating for a Slave Society. Capitalism isn't working, it is production Socialism is slavery as it is State control of the means of production which in an knowledge economy is held by the individual thru the application of their private knowledge. Old Soviet-era Russian joke:
"What is the difference between communism and capitalism? Capitalism is the exploitation of man by man; communism is the exact opposite." The EURO, per se, does not, in fact, exist.
It's a myth. BY THE TREATY the Europeans agreed to synchronize their exchange rates at 1:1 in NEW fiat currencies that would share the same (marketing) name. To make this perfectly clear: at the beginning the Germans wanted the new currency to be known as the German Euro, the French Euro, the Greek Euro, etc. Paris objected as that would make the separate currencies too obvious to the proles. The old central banks were never shut down. They are STILL keeping track of what each nation owes each other -- currency by currency -- that is German Euros, vs Spanish Euros vs Belgian Euros, etc. Folks, the old system NEVER LEFT. It was re-branded. By treaty, there are NO cross-national guarantees for ANY of the various versions of the Euro. What you are looking at is a RIGID EXCHANGE RATE REGIME. Mercantilist Europeans have made and broken such syndicates countless times in the past. They are always favored by Paris. At the end, rigid exchange rate regimes rupture -- typically resulting in either depression, war, or both. The nations that lose out are those that have extended credit. (Germany) The winners are those that owe horrific amounts of money. (Spain, Greece, et. al.) Media broadcasts don't make a thing so. Just ask Winston Smith. Nice. Not very well known or publicized.

States That Voted for Every Democratic Presidential Candidate Since 1992 (Electoral Vote Count in Parentheses) Hawaii (4) California (55) Massachusetts (11) Connecticut (7) Minnesota (10) Delaware (3) New York (29) Illinois (20) Oregon (7) Maine (4) Rhode Island (4) Maryland (10) Washington (12) Michigan (16) Washington, D.C. (3) New Jersey (14) Wisconsin (10) Pennsylvania (20) Vermont (3) Dems appear to have a lock on 242 electoral votes. From the article: If I were a GOP strategist, I would be sweating about now – and in 2020, 2024, and in every presidential election going forward, for as long as the states listed above continue to vote as they have – namely, for every Democratic presidential candidate, regardless, apparently, of that candidate’s experience, honesty, or indeed any other personal characteristic. Given that track record, will even the baggage carried by a candidate as flawed as Hillary Clinton be enough to tip the scales and flip even one of the above states? http://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2015/04/the_only_election_2016_prediction_tool_you_will_need.html Unfortunately, in a few years you can add Texas to that list due to changing demographics. I just hope to be dead by then.
Me too. Fortunately, there shouldn't be any Democrats where we're going. ;-}
There are counter trends that favor pubbies on the margins. Many of the big electoral college vote states are losing populations to redder states.
Obviously, that isn't an issue for 2016 and there is the chance that it works against pubbies by putting more lefties in red states, thus making them purple or blue, but I would guess that more pubbies are leaving the leftie states since they would disagree with what is going on. By the way. I know we are all sick and tied of talking about the weather and the weather doesn't equate to climate until mucho time has passed. But...
As a born and bred New Englander, I left the house this morning wearing just a short shelve shirt and throughout the day each and every time I entered a building upon leaving the temperature had dropped another 5 degrees. Until leaving the hospital this afternoon, by the time I got to the car I (even I!) was shivering. And according to the weather forecast for tonight I need to shut off the outside water and drain the hoses in case of a freeze. It's snowing in the Berkshires. It's one week to May. Maybe this isn't the next glacier coming, but it sure as effluent bovine fertilizer isn't any harbinger of Global Warming either. It's just that my electric and gas bills are through the roof since the fall, mostly due to the war on carbon. My state approved electric rates are up 41%, so I doubt I'll be switching on the Central Air this summer. (the heater maybe) And this state has more stupid "Climate Change" bonehead mandates upcoming. Georgia is looking more and more inviting as time goes on. There's a natural gas power plant going online jan16 in the northern tier marcellus shale area. Please don't tell me you live in NewYorkistan.
Worse, The People's Republic of Massachusetts. They flush their toilets with Kool Aid here!
Dear John the River:
Here in western Montana we have not had any snow since January! go figure that one! Oh, every once in a while we get some flakes that don't stick, but we have had mild weather for the last month! It used to be 1-2 feet in mid April. We will have ONE HELL OF A FIRE SEASON this summer! Go Figure That One! I don't try. I leave it to the know it alls in the IPCC to predict that one, but they can't. Because they haven't been right or on target on one single thing about the earth's climate since they opened their mouths.
It's happened before and it will happen again. It is all about the el nino and la nina cycles and where the jet stream curves. It isn't global warming or climate change it's weather.
