We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I gave up on making my wife happy by watching movies and going to the theater with her. I make her happy by doing other things. Things that, at the end of the day, make her happier than watching a crappy movie with her.
The old fashioned old fashioned in the flask in my breast pocket has made many a dull movie much more flavorful.
I kind of liked Argo as I quickly recognized they were trying to pad out a thin plot. The final scenes where they are trying to fly out of Tehran and getting held up by a series of ever less believable cliff hangers took me back to my yout' of watching Saturday afternoon serials at the Tivoli theater.
