Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Plain wonderful


 The blurb says this:


Last November, at the central market in Valencia, opera singers disguised as shopkeepers were selling produce at the various stalls there. Verdi's Il Travatore starts playing over the loudspeakers & they burst into song. None of the shoppers has a clue what's going on.

 

Too bad the recorded sound quality is poor, but what a kick.

Um, a year or two back Joshua Bell took himself to a train station in D.C. and played "incognito" during rush hour. I think he made $15 or $20.

That reminds me of what happened last year in a train station in Belgium with Do-Re-Mi from The Sound of Music.

Another example of the musical event in an unexpected public place genre is the Food Court Musical in an LA mall ( Baldwin Hills). But neither of the examples I gave are from an opera.

yes, but how did I get from Opera in the market to 50 redheads on a subway, and another You tube with a subway full of people with no pants on? Ain't the internet grand?

Didn't watch the entire clip, but that is awesome! I would call it a public service and let them deduct it from their taxes.
